Terms of Use

By creating a Candour account you agree to these terms. They are short, and the parts that matter most are near the top.
Who can use Candour
You must be 18 or older. One account per person. Don't share your login.
What you write
You keep ownership of everything you write. By posting, you give us permission to display and store it within Candour so the app can work — nothing more. We do not claim your words, sell them, or license them to anyone else.
Content and behaviour — the part that isn't negotiable
Candour exists for honesty, which means it only works if it is safe. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour.
You may not post content that:
- – harasses, threatens, bullies or targets any person or group;
- – promotes hatred or violence on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, age, or any similar ground;
- – encourages or instructs self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating;
- – sexualises minors in any way, or contains sexual content involving anyone who has not consented;
- – identifies a private person — names, addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, or anything else that could locate someone;
- – is spam, advertising, or an attempt to sell something;
- – infringes someone else's copyright or other rights;
- – is illegal, or encourages something illegal.
Confessional writing about your own pain, including your own mistakes, is welcome. Content aimed at another person is not.
Moderation
Everything submitted is checked automatically before it is published. Some posts are held for human review. We may refuse, hide or remove any content, and we may suspend or delete any account, at our discretion and without notice, if we believe these terms have been broken.
You can report any post or reflection from the card itself, and block any account from their profile. We review reports and act on them — including removing content and suspending accounts — as quickly as we can, and within 24 hours of a report wherever possible.
We are not obliged to keep any content, and we do not guarantee that anything you post will remain available.
Your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is permanent: your posts, reflections and profile are removed and cannot be recovered.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms. Where a suspension is temporary, we will tell you when it ends.
Candour is not a support service
Candour is a place to write, not a source of advice, therapy or crisis support. If you are in danger or in crisis, please contact a local emergency service or a crisis line. Nothing in the app is a substitute for professional help.
No warranty
Candour is provided as it is. We do our best to keep it working and to keep it safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or free of content you would rather not have read. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or equivalent laws where you live.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
